The Complex Relationship of an Artist and Its Muse
RYOH
There is a very broad stereotype when it comes to the subject of serial killers. They suffer from psychological, sexual, and physical abuse. Most show mental problems and have trends to committing suicide. There is a stereotype that most serial killers are (white) males, and it is true that many serial killers fall into this category. Dissecting the words ‘serial killer’ gives everyone a clear starting point, but from there personal inferences are made. There are also serial killers who become obsessed with their victim before they kill them. They paint themselves like the victim, they consume themselves with the victim, and they make the victim their muse. But this is just a stereotype. We, as a public, create these stereotypical views because it gives us a sense of what is right and wrong. Society automatically thinks that they see people as nothing more than objects for their enjoyment. When one thinks of a serial killer, they shouldn’t immediately categorize them. This is evidence of that serial killers cannot be placed in a category. They are just as varied and diverse as any other varied group of humans.
