The Complex Relationship of an Artist and Its Muse

RYOH

Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were well known outlaws, robbers, and criminals who traveled with their gang around the Central United States during the Great Depression. Their exploits were known nationwide. They captured the attention of the American press between 1931 and 1934. Though known today for his dozen-or-so bank robberies, Barrow in fact preferred to rob small stores or rural gas stations. Parker’s role in the gang has since been a source of controversy. Some claim she had Clyde wrapped around her finger, while others are convinced that Clyde simply used Bonnie as a muse. She was his inspiration and the reason for his psycho murders.Gang member said they never saw her fire a gun and described her role as logistical. The gang is believed to have killed at least nine police officers and committed several civilian murders. They were eventually ambushed and killed in Louisiana by law officers.
