Woe

RYOH

On the day I set out, I made good time, catching rides that took me a long way of where I needed to go. By afternoon, I had gotten 350 miles. I had less than one hundred miles to go. I tried to evaluate each person who stopped to make sure they seemed safe, and had even turned down two potential rides when I did not feel right about them, so when a blue Dodge Colt stopped on the road with a man, woman and baby inside, I was relieved. They were young, clean-cut and friendly, so I got into the back seat. I was thanking my lucky stars.
